Are you married?

I've been hearing way too many stories lately of men cheating on their wives with people I know. My friends have no idea that they are married until after the fact, and they usually find out in a way other than by the guy telling them. I just don't understand why this has to happen and why it is happening so often. I currently have no faith in marriage or any man for that matter. I know that women do it too, but I am only focused on the other side right now because that is what is affecting me. I met a guy in a bar last night and after talking to him for three hours, I discovered that he is married with three kids. He didn't divulge this information, of course. How can you even trust anyone these days. I feel like everyone is going to lie to get something that they want and I don't want to be a part of it. If you are married, stay home with your wife and leave me alone. Thanks.

Good things

Just waking up and I feel like I could sleep all day!! Austin has truley wiped me out! We went to the CTC benefit ok Friday night. It was really good to see those people that I had not seen since Africa last summer. I'm looking forward to Catherine going and us putting on the fundraiser in Denver.

I really wish I could just pick up and move to Austin. That would be really fun. I haven't really thought about Denver much since I've been here. I could definitley see myself here for a long time.

Focus on now and future

Heading to Austin today for the weekend. Yay! I am so so so excited. The FWD will not be seen. I will be attending a CTC Benefit concert tonight. Its really got me thinking about my trip to Africa last summer a how much I really want to go back. The cause has been very much around me lately and I have an overwhelming feeling of needing to go back. My friend Catherine may be going with CTC at the end of July and thinking about it makes me overfilled with emotion. I know how much she wants to go and she has no idea what she will get out of it. There is really no way to know until you go there and experience it for yourself.

Its truly amazing how people pull together and support a cause that is so distant and hard to wrap your head around. I hope that I can do my prt in continuing to spread the word and affecting lives of those less fortunate than I.

Affect the things you have control of

I had to write this thought down before I forget. Often times when a relationship ends we rush to tell ourselves "we deserve better." well, its not like better will instantly appear at our doorsteps. Instead, I like to think that he or she doesn't deserve better than who they are and as long as we stick around and continue to be a part of their lives, we are giving them just that. Control the things you can and don't allow someone to have better than they are when they can't give that to you. Stay strong and don't look back. It will turn into an "I WIN." So there.

Another phase?

Okay...not sure what is going on but Denver still isn't working for me. Is it the city or is it me? Maybe it's a little bit of both.

I am going back to Austin this weekend. I am really looking forward to the trip and have a feeling that I will want to move there sooner than later. I wish I could just finally find a place that feels like home and just settle down. I was hoping that it would be Denver but now I'm not so sure.

I need a sign. That's all I'm sayinnn.

Its 11:18pm and I'm still awake

I took the CR version of Ambien which I have never taken before. Hopefully it doesn't fuck with me and make me go into the kitchen to scarf down a bag of cookies. I'm just sayinnn...I've heard the stories. I think I planned my day quite well. Sleep late, eat, take a nap, eat, now be wide awake for bedtime. I'm so responsible.

We tried

Tonight was sushi/lottery ticket extravaganza Tuesday. Taki was great as usual. We once again affirmed to the staff that we are in fact crazy. We passed on the fried cheesecake (yep, we have actually ORDERED that more than once!) They decided to give us the healthier version of dessert on the house....the fried bananas.
We headed to the local 7-11 after dinner to buy a few scratch offs (I figure, I'm still mad at Susan Miller, but what the heck, I had to give it one last try.) The clerk selling us the scratch offs accidently gave me a free $2 ticket. I tried to tell her she made a mistake and she just wasn't getting it. Short of me throwing it back at her, I tried everything I could to return it so my karma should be in check. I actually won $3, but surprisingly, she didn't know how to change the paper in the printer so she couldn't cash it in. That's when we decided to hit the 7-11 down the street for more scratch off fun. (We also had to get powerball tickets - the printer problem prevented us from doing that at the first location.)

We drove a few blocks down the street and bought a few more tickets. Aimee was the big winner of the night, even though we wouldn't know it until the ticket was scanned by the machine. She won $10 and you would have thought that Kirby asked her to marry her from her reaction. (I am referring to THE LJ Kirby for those of you who caught on).

Note: I'm not sure why Aimee is still wearing her sunglasses on her head. I know the time changed and it gets darker later, but the sun was definitely not out at 9pm.

It was such an exciting evening. I got home and checked my mail hoping for the best (check? someone?). Guess what was waiting for me? ANOTHER "Save the Date" and my mortgage payment. Susan is GOING DOWN.

Sunday

Spent the weekend skiing my butt off with my dad and my brother in Beaver Creek. Sunday turned out to be a fabulous day. It would have been even better had I won the lottery like I was supposed to. Thanks a lot Susan Miller. What do you know anyway??? She told me I was going to win:

I would like to draw your attention to March 8 too, when the Sun and Uranus will be conjunct. This day will again bring money luck, so you might as well buy a scratch-off lotto ticket and test your luck. If you don't win, check your mailbox - someone may have sent you money you would have never expected.

ALL LIES. So maybe I didn't buy a scratch off - but the Powerball is close enough. I'll try again this week. I really think I have a shot at this. (I am serious.)

And I can guarantee that the only thing in my mailbox is a few credit card applications and a Pottery Barn catalog. Check in my mailbox??? Positive thoughts.

Testing mobile blogging

Just wondering if I can really post from my phone. This could be dangerous. I always mispell words on this thang.

Intervention vs. Millionaire Matchmaker

Why is reality TV so addicting? I spent the weekend watching so much of it that I felt like I needed to be hypnotized to forget all about it.

The show is Intervention. I've seen the show before, even participated in an intervention, but I've never seen anything like this. Her name is Laney and she rides around in a limo with her cat and litter box. Its the most ridiculous thing you will ever see. She is an alcoholic. She's rich. She's crazy. It is a train wreck. Everyone must watch this episode. I am still very confused by what happens at the end. I don't really want to say why for those of you who haven't seen it. I don't want to ruin it. Amazing television.

The other show is Millionaire Matchmaker. This show is freaking awesome. Patty sure thinks she knows a thing or two about matchmaking. She likes to compare her work to the work of God. She is crazy. I promise if you watch this show your jaw will spend 90% of the time on the floor. The things that come out of this woman's mouth are insane. Watch it.

Decent. Doable. Boy.
